Special Educational Needs & Disabilities
At Holbrook Academy, we aim to support each child’s individual needs, and work hard so that every child can Aspire, Engage and Achieve in an inclusive environment.
Our Students have their needs met in the mainstream classroom, with good quality, adaptive and mixed ability teaching. All of our students are offered full access to a broad, balanced and relevant education in a nurturing environment.
Our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) is Mrs Kathryn Darby.
If you have any questions please do get in touch and we will be happy to help.

English as an Additional Language (EAL) Provision
Before arrival, each student is assigned to a tutor group and the highest appropriate set. A buddy—ideally able to assist with language—is identified to support them in lessons and social times.
Tutors help the group welcome the new student, while any parent/carer communication needs are identified and supported. The SENCO and Pastoral Team oversee English as an Additional Language support and share relevant information with staff. Guidance is provided to ensure students receive tailored language support as needed.
